This masterclass is organized by the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage and focuses on the practice and discussion of a risk based decision making model for climate control. The steps include valuation of collection and building, analysis of the possibilities the building offers, collection needs and control over the indoor climate. From valuation to the development and planning of options for climate risk mitigation.Participants practise each stage of this approach by working, discussing and studying in a real historic house with its collection. The course emphasizes on communication and teamwork.

Our Lord in the Attic is a historic house museum located in the historic center of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. It is a typical 16th century Dutch canal house, with a hidden Church in the attic. The Church was used regularly until 1887 when the house became a museum. The annual total number of visitors has grown from 36,000 in 1990 to 75,000 in 2005; this trend is exponentially increasing.

Proefschrift over Verwarming van Monumentale Kerken
Heating Monumental Churches, Indoor Climate and Preservation of Cultural Heritage
In 2002 promoveerde ir. Henk Schellen aan de Technische Universiteit in Eindhoven op het onderwerp Heating Monumental Churches, Indoor Climate and Preservation of Cultural Heritage. Het onderzoek was mede geïnitieerd door dr. Ton Jütte van het ICN. Zowel het ICN als de Rijksdienst voor de Monumentenzorg en de TUE hebben het financieel ondersteund. Hieronder volgt een samenvatting van het onderzoek.
